Conclusions
“Death is the only pure, beautiful conclusion of a great passion.” David Herbert Lawrence
The journey through the NLGL program has been rewarding, insightful, enlightening and promising. I have come to realize the importance and significance of 21st century learning for my students for not only their time in my classroom, but for what lies ahead of them as well. Our students are growing up and learning in a new day and age from what we experienced when we were in their shoes. We have an obligation to adapt to the times and do everything possible to make sure our students are getting the most of their education while we see them, but more importantly, for when they leave us and encounter the next stage of their lives. We need to continue to show them that it is not just about hearing and learning the material we are presenting to them, but rather applying it to the world around them and making connections. The use of technology is changing and evolving in such a way that our students need to know how to use it, appreciate it and practice it so they can be prepared to help lead future generations in the right direction. I truly feel that the four core classes we have experienced in this program have given us as teachers, the proper training to mold our students to be effective 21st century leaders. From being leaders in and out of the classroom, to seeing their education in a global context, knowing how to search for ways to improve themselves through research, all while incorporating the technologies that are available to them, we can prepare our students for success both in the present, and in the future. While this may be the end of a magnificent journey for me in this program, it is only beginning for my students and their future.
