"The future ain't what it used to be." YOGGI BERRA
Welcome to my NLGL Creative Synthesis presentation! Throughout this site, I hope to illustrate what I have learned during the course of this program, and how this knowledge has helped to mold my teaching in a positive and beneficial way. I firmly believe that because of the NLGL program, I have been made more aware of how I can best prepare my students both now, and for the future.
The quote above from the great philosopher of his time, Yoggi Berra, sums up exactly how I feel about where education is heading. Gone are the days where teachers can solely rely on lectures and notes to drive student learning. We live in a day and age where our students can look up almost all of the material we are covering in class, online!! Knowing this, we can not continue to prepare our students the way our teachers prepared us for our future. Our students future looks quite different then ours did when we were in their seats.
With this is mind, and after a lot of edititing and revising, my compelling question is this: How can teachers effectively use 21st century skills to engage their students both today, as well as in preparation for their tomorrow?
